About Toban Capital

Stephen B. Toban is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Toban Capital Canada Inc. and Toban Capital Korea Ltd. He specializes in private equity financing as well as mergers and acquisitions, working closely with global companies and syndicates in the music and entertainment industries.

With more than three decades of experience in the financial sector, Stephen has served as a foreign advisor to high-level government agencies and numerous Asia-based companies, playing pivotal roles in negotiating project acquisitions and financing international multimillion-dollar ventures.

He was the first foreign advisor at GoldenBridge Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. in Seoul, where he contributed to a range of successful M&A projects. Over the past decade, his work has included listing and financing Asian companies on North American stock exchanges and structuring both equity and debt offerings.

A Vancouver native, Stephen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia and completed MBA programs in International Business at both the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). He began his career in the bond department at the Bank of Canada, where he developed a deep interest in financial markets, monetary policy, and global investment.

Guided by principles of integrity, transparency, and community building, Stephen is committed to solution-focused problem-solving and innovative thinking. His connection to Asian finance dates back to the 1960s, when his father was instrumental in South Korea’s financial recovery after the Korean War. Following in his father’s groundbreaking footsteps, Stephen has partnered on cutting-edge initiatives with South Korean markets and partners for more than two decades.
